This case involved a cyclist who was riding on Centennial Boulevard in Springfield, Oregon in the bike lane when a pizza delivery driver heading the opposite direction took a left turn without yielding. The cyclist did not have time to stop and struck the side of the delivery car at approximately 25 MPH. The cyclist flew over the top of the car and landed in the street suffering soft tissue injuries to her neck and back.
The defense initially denied responsibility for the crash but when presented with several witnesses, relented and admitted liability. They then attempted to downplay the severity of the cyclist's injury. Prior to trial they agreed to settle the case for $187,500.00.
